چکیده
The vinylidene radical ( H2C=Cr) is the simplest unsaturated carbenc and is postulated to be a reactive intermediate in a number of reactions [ 1 ,?I, such as in the combination of two CH2 radicals to produce acetylene_ It is particularly interesting in that it rearranges by a 1.7 hydrogen shift. an important process in the chemistry of txrbenes [3]_ Extensive calculations have been done on the electronic structure of S 1 A, vinylidene [4-l?] _ which predict. among other things. a barrier fo rearrangement of 4-S kcal/niole [6. S]. or even as low as 0.9 kcal/mole [ 1 1 ] _ Dyn.unical calculations predict 141 a lifetime against tunneling of O-1-10 ps. in agreenlent with indirect experiments (2. l3]_ There have been no direct observations of sinL?let vinylidene, and. indeed. the espected short life3 time 1~~s led to speculation that it may not be spectroscopic.dly observable_ Calculations predict the lowest excited electronic state, jBz. to lie 30-50 kcal/mole above the singlet [S. S. 14-17) _ The triplet is predicted to have a much higher barrier fo rearrangement. and might live sufficiently long to be esperinlentally observed_ In fact. Laufer [l&-20] has observed a transient absorption in both photolyzed acetylene and in ketene, which

Photoelectron-photoion momentum spectroscopy as a clock for chemical rearrangements: isomerization of the di-cation of acetylene to the vinylidene configuration.
We have used complete correlated momentum mapping of the photoelectron and heavy ion products from the dissociation of the di-cation of acetylene, induced by photoionizing the carbon K shell of one of the atoms, to map out the angular correlation between the electron and the axis of the target molecule. The (quasi-) symmetric decay is found to proceed through both acetylene and vinylidene confi...
متن کاملEffect of Cu Content on TiN-Cu Nanocomposite Film Properties: Structural and Hardness Studies
Titanium nitride-Copper (TiN-Cu) nanocomposite films were deposited onto stainless steel substrate using hollow cathode discharge ion plating technique. The influence of Cu content in the range of 2-7 at.% on the microstructure, morphology and mechanical properties of deposited films were investigated. Structural properties of the films were studied by X-ray diffraction pattern. Topography of t...
متن کاملThe Reactive Chemisorption of Carbon Dioxide at Mg(100) Surface
X-ray photoelectron and electron energy loss spectroscopic (XPS-EELS) studies reveal that the following species are present when a mixture of CO2 and water vapour is exposed to the clean Mg(100) surface at 110K: CO3(a), C(a) CH(a), OH(a). The reactive chemisorptions of CO2 and H2O vapour coadsorbed on a Mg surface ...
متن کاملVoltammetric Determination of Copper Ion in Water Samples Using a Drop Casted Biopolymer
Poly-dopamine, inspired by biopolymers of mussels, is an adhesive catecholamine possessing low cytotoxicity and very good biocompatibility. In the present study, poly-dopamine nanoparticles (PDNP), as a biopolymer, were synthesized and characterized using FTIR spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and electrochemical methods. The drop casted PDNPs at the surface of carbon paste electrode (...
متن کاملAn XPS and ToF-SIMS Investigation of the Outermost Nanometres of a Poly(vinylidene difluoride) Coating
The outermost nanometres of a poly(vinylidene difluoride) (PVdF) based coil coating have been investigated using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS). A reference PVdF based coating formulation and three variations of this formulation were characterised by XPS. The addition of flow agent and/or acrylic co-polymers induced significa...
